However if you're going to be spending anymore than that on a headset then I'd aim for 200$ CAD. Listening Experience is great, their software is well designed, the microphone just falls a bit short but still does a decent job. In all for the average user, I think these are a great buy especially for the price I paid (120$ CAD). SteelSeries could definitely have stepped up their game a bit here so for that reason I'm taking a star away for the mic quality. It's definitely a step up from very low tier microphones but falls a bit behind at it's price point. Not comparable to true audiophile headphones but definitely becomes some competition with the high end "Gaming" Headphone brands, and lower tier headphones from brands like Sennheiser etc.Īs for the microphone it's not the best on the market for gaming headsets but it's crisp and clear but it's nothing to boast about. I was pretty impressed with them honestly, even as an Audiophile. Though I did have a chance to check them out. I returned and bought another one, and it's now smooth sailing. Only problem is that the first 650 I got had a defective mic/soundcard (not sure which one) that made the mic extremely quiet, almost inaudible even when boosted. It actually sits very comfy on my head that I hardly even notice the added weight. Initially I was worried that it might be too heavy, at ~400g vs 270g of my previous headset. The others sounded ok, but had completely closed designs that sounded very enclosed, which didn't fit my liking. Most importantly, it resembles the semi-open design of my frost which I heavily value, which has passable noise isolation and also a more airy soundstage. It has plentiful of bass and balanced sound unlike the Revolver's V-shape profile that made my ears feel pressurized. I've gone painstakingly through the Hyperx Cloud, HyperX Revolver and Arctis 7 Wireless, but ultimately found the 650 to be the best sounding. Have owned a Siberia v2 Frost for the past 3 years, and have been looking to find a replacement that sounds similar in style.
